Job Description

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Breast Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

We are seeking Registered Nurses with Oncology experience who are ONS certified to be part of our nursing staff at our Scottsdale infusion center.  This position works a Monday-Friday, day shift schedule.  Attractive salary and benefits available to qualified candidates.  We are offering a $2,500 sign on bonus paid over one year.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: include but are not limited to

  • Conducts accurate calculations, preparation, administration, documentation of chemotherapy medications.
  • Accesses peripheral IV’s and VAD’s.
  • Verifies lab values with guidelines for administering chemotherapy. Mixes in accordance to OSHA.
  • Assesses patients prior to, during, and after infusions.
  • Maintains chemotherapy protocols.
  • Knowledge of infusion pump operation and maintenance.
  • Facilitates dose modifications according to physician and protocol guidelines.
  • Assesses patient for changes in conditions, including, but not limited to, abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions, and initiates appropriate action.
  • Documents patient data, including, but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication and patient condition changes, patient teaching, medication administration in chart.
  • Maintains efficient patient flow through chemotherapy area.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed; documents relevant information in patient chart.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching.  Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patient.
  • Manages patient medication refills and documents in chart.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must possess and be able to demonstrate compassion and professionalism dealing with patients, staff and family members.
  • Must be adept with electronic medical record and comfortable working/charting or learning in an E environment.
  • Must demonstrate awareness of and practice of all required PPE during the course of chemotherapy administration
  • Excellent clinical and functional skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrate advanced problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and team building skills a must.
  • Computer skills required (Microsoft office)
  • Willing to travel between offices.

Education and Qualifications: 

  • Must have Oncology experience.
  • OCN certification or ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Providers care required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Have a current AZ Board of Nursing RN license.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
