Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Women's Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, women's centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

Overview: We are looking for an experienced training coordinator to work in our fast-paced out-patient oncology clinics in the West Valley.  The training coordinator assists in the implementation of office training, computer programs, policies and procedures, and conducts training of new staff and on an on-going basis.

Schedule:  Full-time, Monday through Friday day shift position. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Trains new staff on appropriate systems; provides training materials.
  • Assists in the training of new employees as it relates to non-clinical P&P at direction of the Training Department Manager.
  • Monitors, documents, and reports the effectiveness of employee training during the orientation period.
  • Assists in ongoing training of existing staff members to maintain P&P consistency between sites and between employees.
  • Familiar with a variety of internal/external concepts, practices, and procedures. Ensures maximum effectiveness of customer service.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • Works in conjunction with Office Managers, Director of Operations and Training Department Manager to implement effective policy.
  • Maintains in-depth understanding of Electronic Medical Records, Practice Management, ONCOEMR & Allscripts systems; works fluently within the systems.
  • Works in multiple positions and assesses workflow as needed.
  • Acquires extensive EHR knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, administrator or physicians.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic understanding of insurance billing and coding.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy related drugs and supplies utilized.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic testing and radiation procedures.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication & customer service skills.
  • Basic IT knowledge.
  • Must be willing to travel between office locations with reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Internet.

Education and Experience:

  • 2-3 years medical office experience.
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Previous Medical/Radiation Oncology experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
