Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, women's centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

We are looking for a motivated, professional and friendly, patient-focused Oncology Nurse Manager to work in our fast paced and rewarding environment for the East Valley.  This position allows for excellent potential for professional growth.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Accurate calculation, preparation, administration, documentation of chemotherapy medications.
  • Access peripheral IV’s and VAD’s.
  • Responsible for verification of lab values with guidelines for administering chemotherapy.
  • Mixing in accordance to OSHA.
  • Assessing patients prior to, during, and after infusions.
  • Maintains chemotherapy protocols.
  • Facilitates dose modifications according to physician and protocol guidelines.
  • Assess patient for changes in conditions, including, but not limited to, abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions, and initiates appropriate action.
  • Document patient data, including, but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication and patient condition changes, patient teaching, medication administration in chart.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow through chemotherapy area.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in patient’s chart.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching.  Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patient.
  • Manage patient medication refills and document in chart.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Acts as resource to other medical and office staff.
  • Follows OSHA guidelines for Chemotherapy agents, bio-hazardous waste, and any potential blood borne pathogen.
  • Maintains knowledge of reimbursement procedures.  Assures preauthorization, financial counseling, and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies.
  • Completes charge encounters accurately.
  • Creates Nursing schedules weekly and evaluates staffing requirements.
  • Counsels RN/MA and Pharmacy staff regarding deficiencies or needed areas of improvement.
  • Provides Clinical guidance, evaluates and assesses RN performance and educational opportunities.
  • Audits RN/MA staff performance Via retrospective chart audit.
  • Audits Pharmacy tech via direct supervision of mixing, storage and inventory techniques.
  • Participates in monthly Pyxis reconciliation and works to resolve discrepancies.
  • Helps to run RN meetings.
  • Creates written clinical protocols for RNs.
  • Works as a liaison between physicians and RNs to assure clinical effectiveness.
  • Creates and maintains orientation program for new RNs and MAs.
  • Designated Super User for EMR; creates/adjusts/ maintains clinical templates, flow sheets, protocols, care plans, etc. 
  • Responsible for ongoing training of Clinical staff as it relates to EMR.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of infusion pump operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains clean work environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer skills and typing are essential.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office required.
  • Excellent knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.


  • Oncology experience required. 
  • RN State license and current registration with State Board of Nursing.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • OCN or Chemo/Biotherapy card required.
