Job Description

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Breast Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

Overview:  We are looking for a motivated, professional and friendly Records Release individual .  The successful candidate will be responsible for the documentation and recordkeeping of health information of patients.

Schedule:  This is a full-time, day position working a Monday - Friday schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Averages 80-100 or more status calls per month regarding records requests.
  • Create invoice for records and fax/email; review fax confirmations to make sure all files went through.
  • Complete any affidavits or certification of records that come with the request; some may require notary.
  • Create CD’s of any imaging requested.
  • Fax/Email records. If file too large then they will have to be printed and mailed.
  • Update Task in OncoEMR with information regarding the records; how many pages sent, cost, and where records sent.
  • Multiple phone calls throughout the day for status of records.
  • Pull billing records when applicable to request.
  • Address returned mail from A/R.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of record keeping procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of governmental, legal and regulatory provisions related to patient records and HIPAA.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Internet.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Medical terminology and ability to recognize different types of patient reports.
  • Maintains a professional, helpful, positive attitude which contributes to teamwork.
Education & Qualification Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year experience working in a medical records department preferred.
  • Medical Oncology experience preferred.
