Job Description

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Women's Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, women's centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

Overview:  We are looking for a motivated, professional and friendly individual to work our Front Office (check-in/out) at our Sun City location.  Will be responsible for the overall flow and efficiency of the front office check-in procedures. Greets each patient and portrays a positive attitude daily. Maintains up-to-date patient information and collects applicable payments. 

This is a full-time, day-shift position working a Monday - Friday schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients as they enter in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Collects payments as requested by the Benefits Counselor and walk-in payments.
  • Maintains cash drawer and balances daily at mid-day and end of day close out and alerts appropriate person when cash drawer balance is at an unacceptable level.
  • Posts patient payments into all required systems.
  • Updates AOB, HIPAA, insurance as required.
  • Encounters paperwork into EMR system.
  • Queues patient in the computer.
  • Makes patient initial and follow-up appointments.
  • Follows protocol for copying checks, sign-in sheets, log, etc. at the end of each day.
  • Answers telephones and directs calls.
  • Supports front office check-out procedures.
  • Maintains physician calendars and reschedules appointments when necessary.
  • Maintains CCD and CMS letters daily.
  • Makes daily reminder calls and documents as verification.
  • Maintains a professional, team oriented, positive attitude.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor, administrator, or physicians.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of HIPAA rules & regulations preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance company’s procedures and policies preferred.
  • Knowledge of governmental, legal and regulatory provisions related to collection activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Internet.
  • Ability to operate a computer and office equipment is essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills and excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Must be willing to travel between office locations with reliable transportation.
  • 1-2 years of medical front office experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Medical Oncology and surgical settings ideal.
  • Electronic Medical Record experience a plus.
