Overview: We are looking for a motivated, professional, and friendly Medical Assistant to assists Physicians in a broad variety of medical assistant functions with a primary focus on injection procedures.  Will deliver compassionate care to patients by assisting with clinical tasks, performing support services for clinical staff and providing direct interaction with patients and their caregivers.  Performs other duties and responsibilities as required. 

Schedule: This is a full-time, day-shift position a Monday - Friday schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes and records vital signs for treatment patients.
  • Completes and records patient assessments, if applicable.
  • Answers phones and responds appropriately.
  • Preps for the day from Daily Schedule.
  • Reviews most recent order for injections.
  • Reviews and confirms laboratory count.
  • Administers injection. If help is needed with injections, notifies RN staff.
  • Provides support coverage for rooming patients, if needed.
  • Reviews critical labs.
  • Records appropriate information in assessments for injections.
  • Checks charts for most recent dictation associated with last visit.
  • Accesses and retrieves laboratory reports via phone or secure web sites when needed.
  • Helps schedule hospital admits, transfusions and phlebotomies when necessary.
  • Handles physician requests and coordinates special testing assignments when necessary.
  • Assists coworkers in any area necessary to provide quality patient care.
  • Calls patients who have missed scheduled injection appointments; notes in chart the reason; reschedules patient, if necessary.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of HIPAA rules & regulations
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy related drugs and supplies utilized preferred.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic testing and radiation procedures preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Stable work history, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to obtain vital signs and take instructions from Physicians.
  • Must be able to relate well to patients.
  • Maintains a professional, team oriented, positive attitude on a daily basis.
  • Computer and typing skills are essential.  Experience with electronic medical records a plus.
  • Should have good organizational skills, effective oral, and written communication skills.
  • Should be flexible, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be willing to travel between office locations if needed. 

Education and Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program.
  • National MA Certification a plus (will be required within first 90 days).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
