Job Description

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Breast Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

Overview:  We are looking for an experienced LPN who is motivated, professional, and friendly to facilitate care to our patients.  This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating surgical, radiation and medical oncology treatment processes for cancer patients from diagnosis through follow up.  This is a full-time, day shift position working a Monday - Friday schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports providers in the delivery of patient care services and office operations.
  • Provides hands on clinical care within professional scope of practice, which may include mentoring technologists and nurses to care for patients during and post biopsy. Also includes patient care during Oncology Multi-disciplinary Clinic.
  • Prepares examining areas and patients for examination, procedure or treatment by a provider or authorized practitioner.
  • Obtains vital signs and records patient’s medical history and other relevant data.
  • Assists provider with patient examinations, treatments and/or procedures/surgeries.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments.
  • Facilitates and tracks patient records/orders/ information flow between office/facility/hospitals.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of sterile techniques.
  • Stable work history and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Easily adaptable to a computer environment.
  • Proactive with patient care.
  • Must be able to relate well to patients.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.  
  • Excellent customer service skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office required.  
  • Excellent knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.

Education and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a LPN with surgical experience. 
  • Current Arizona LPN State Board of Nursing license required.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
